Hello! My name is Apollo. I started out as a stray cat running around Providence. Things went downhill from there.
I tried to jump over a chain link fence to get into the backyard of a woman who feeds stray cats. I guess I’m not a very good high jumper, because my back legs got caught in the fence, and I was hanging upside down all night long.
In the morning, the lady found me. She got me out of the fence; my left back leg was badly cut up. Unfortunately, she then kept me in her basement for several weeks, thinking I could heal myself without help from the veterinarian. My wounds got infected, and the infection spread from my skin to the bones in my left ankle.
By the time I was brought to PAAWS RI for help, I was not using my leg at all; it was too painful. Since this time, I had an operation on the infected skin, and it is now totally healed. The infected bone was more of a problem.
I finished a few months of antibiotics, and a surgeon named Dr. Clark was very nice to me. He has come to check on me three times! I’ve had several sets of x-rays.
The good news is that Dr Clark told me my leg is finally healed! I have a very slight limp – very slight – and, after all this time, I’m now ready for a loving home.
I’m super friendly, let’s meet!
I am neutered and up to date with all my shots!
I don’t have any special needs.

PAAWS RI has an open house event every Saturday at 11am. I would love it if you came to visit me along with all of my other wonderful friends that are also looking for their forever home. Visit the Events Page for more information on the open house and other events from the shelter.
